@Anirban: You sound like you are a candidate for bariatric surgery. Please call 98300-31663 (if you want to consult with me) or 98300-08668 if you want to see Dr. Baig. Only then can you find your answers.

Somak: As you can understand, it is not possible to specify what procedure you will be eligible for without having evaluated you. However, do read up on this site and get a feel of what procedure seems best to you. We could then take it forward (maybe email communication--mine is rambodoc@gmail.com) and then talk about budgets. Does this make sense to you?

Kavita:
1) Is so much ok or bad, in 1year 10 mnths post surgery?

Ok

.
2) How much expansion is permissible?

No specific limit, but we do the tracking by weight and diabetes control. If it stays down to acceptable limits, then there is no problem.

3) Risk involved due to expansion because the stomach is on an artificial limit of staples?

There is no limit imposed by staples now. Basically, the stomach pouch size is what it is now: if one drinks sodas or eats higher volume foods, then the pouch would expand. Basically, weight regain largely correlates with pouch and stoma size.

4) Surgery is not foolproof, so life an eternal seesaw??Chances of body going back to obese??

It need not be a seesaw. Each patient gets better than before. How much better one stays successfully depends on how motivated and true one stays over time. It is possible to regain a lot of weight over the long term, though this should not happen if the patient follows up and keeps up with the recommended lifestyle changes.

5) Is it possible to go back to the 15 ml pouch that I had started out with?

No. Thanks for your interest.

I have recently got to know that my stomach is 3 times the size with what I had started out, after my Gastric bypass.
I drink too much tea, coffee; not much of an eater.

Hi Doc,

Thanks for replying. Yes the JIB was done in the 1950 but thats was the only surgery offered at that
time in South Africa and myself and many thought it was the right way to go. Anyway the doc who did it can no longer do this surgery. I am thinking of the gastric plication as knowing that its reversable .
Please can you give me more information of your site for costs and where about u are and if i need
to travel all those things i would like to know. How long would a overseas person need to be there and in hospital . What about the recovery once returning home.

Thank you in advance
