AN ISSUE OF CONFIDENCE

On August - 3 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Bariatric surgeons in India deal with last minute withdrawals/cancellations of procedures, unlike their Western brethren. Why?

One of the reasons is the lack of adequate information to the patient. The ill-informed patient may hear someone say something negative about weight loss surgery (often a half-baked myth or a comment based on unrealistic expectations), and chicken out of the surgery at the last minute.

I have had the mortification of dealing with this– it is a bother, not to say embarrassing!

We also see patients who come ready for admission and surgery. Not for them a second opinion, or net-browsing. They have that kind of confidence in their bariatric surgeon. It is hard to think of life without people like these: they spoil us!

confidence

(confidence is what lets me wear shoes like these–sometimes!)

Confidence is like love– it cannot be taught, but can be earned. We strive to earn the confidence of our patients and our readers by means of our honesty, credibility, qualifications, experience and results.
